Mattagami Lake Fisheries monitoring program

September 15, 2023

At Côté Gold, we are committed to maintaining our culture of accountable mining through high standards of environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. With this in mind, on August 25, members of Mattagami First Nation alongside Côté Gold, Minnow Aquatics Environmental Services and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry participated in the broad-scale monitoring of Mattagami Lake. The study began on August 23 and ran through August 31 to monitor the current and changing state of the fishery and impact of the Mattagami hatchery on the walleye population in the lake. Information gathered from the study will be used to evaluate the status of the fish population and support the development of the Mattagami Lake Fisheries Plan.
